Shoolini University, committed to cleanliness and sustainable living, recently orchestrated the 8th edition of the Swachhta Pakhwada event. Collaborating with the Ministry of Tourism, the initiative aimed to spotlight the urgent necessity for cleanliness and sustainable practices, especially at tourist spots throughout India.

Faculty members across multiple departments took charge as they led their students in a widespread cleanliness drive. The areas earmarked for this operation ranged from the bridge near the university campus to student hostels, academic blocks, and even the hidden corners that are often overlooked. The participating faculties included Sciences, Legal Sciences, Liberal Arts and Spiritual Sciences, Applied Sciences, Biotech and Bioengineering, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Management Sciences, and Engineering and Technology.

The poster-making competition, parallel to the cleanliness activities, added an element of creativity and cultural engagement to the proceedings. The contest drew participation from approximately 70 students across various departments. Their artwork revolved around pertinent themes, such as ‘Swachhta’ (cleanliness) and ‘Meri Shoolini Swachh Shoolini’ (My Shoolini, Clean Shoolini). The competition became a dual platform for students to express their artistic talent and zeal for maintaining cleanliness.

Dean Student Welfare Poonam Nanda emphasised the transformative power of participating in such initiatives. “Once you’ve taken part in a cleaning campaign, you’ll never side with those who litter,” she stated. She also proudly pointed out the strategically placed dustbins across the university campus, contributing to Shoolini University’s reputation as one of the cleanest educational campuses in India.

A striking highlight of this year’s Swachhta Pakhwada was the overwhelming participation from the student body. Over 1,000 students rolled up their sleeves and got their hands dirty, gathering over 30 bags of waste.

The mission cultivated a sense of ‘Jan Bhagidari’ (public participation) and increased awareness about the importance of cleanliness.

In a ceremony to acknowledge the exceptional efforts, trophies and vouchers were awarded to the top-performing teams in the poster-making competition.

In its quest for global competence and cross-cultural enrichment, the Office of International Affairs (OIA) at Shoolini University has selected 15 students for the upcoming semester’s foreign student exchange program. So far, the international student exchange program has awarded scholarships worth Rs 30 crore to meritorious students, fostering global competence and international collaboration.

Some students have received comprehensive support, including fully funded tuition and accommodation. The scholars, hailing from Chitrakoot School of Liberal Arts, School of Business Management, and School of Biotechnology include Roohani Kumar, Salina Kim, Rashmi Joshi, Shivam Verma, Achyut Kaul, Kritharth Pandey, Ishika Thakur, Hrishika Sharma, Devanshi Patel, Ansh Bedi, Kushagra Agrawal, Aditya Pandey, Arshad Jamal, Ishani Ghosh and Dhiren Sharma.

Prof RP Dwivedi, who leads the Office of International Affairs, pointed out, “The chosen students are about to start life-changing adventures in countries like Taiwan, Italy, Indonesia, Turkey, and China. These trips are set to expand their knowledge and cultural awareness, helping them get global exposure, grow as individuals and add value to their education and personal development.”

Nandini Thakur is now doing her PhD at Lanzhou University and gets a monthly payment of 4000 CNY. Jasmine Kaur is working on her PhD at Griffith University and receives 4000 USD every month. In a move to ignite student-led innovation, Shoolini University recently unveiled its Student Research Council. Founded by Anitya Kumar Gupta and introduced at the iconic Peter Drucker Hall on campus, the council will be a dynamic platform fostering student research, collaboration, and creativity. 

Distinguished speakers shared valuable insights and experiences at the ceremony. These included Shoolini University Founder and Chancellor Prof PK Khosla, Dean for Research & Development Prof Saurabh Kulshreshtha, President (Innovation and Marketing) Ashish Khosla, Chief Learning Officer Dr Ashoo Khosla, President & Dean (Faculty of Management Science) Munish Sahrawat, Dean of Engineering Prof Virendra Rihani, Asst Profs Puneet Kapoor and Arwind Sharma.  

Underlining his commitment to promoting academic advancement, Prof PK Khosla announced an allocation of Rs 5 Lakh as Special Funds for the Student Research Council. While teamwork was the highlight of Prof Munish Sehrawat’s talk, he noted the significant role that effective communication and dedication played in forming a cohesive unit. He explained how face-to-face interactions enhanced teamwork and the importance of effective communication, understanding, and timely conflict resolution. Drawing a parallel from the world of ‘Avengers’ and ‘Formula 1’, he highlighted the effectiveness of collaborative efforts over solitary endeavours.  

Discussing the intersection of academia and industry, Prof Virendra Rihani, Dean of Engineering, discussed the dual benefits of research. Not only can it be commercially profitable, but it can also address significant health conditions like leukaemia, he added. 

Insights into the rapidly advancing field of neural networks were offered by Asst Prof Puneet Kapoor, while Asst Prof Arvind Sharma focused on the preparatory aspects of research. He urged budding researchers to engage with review papers before diving into their research projects.
